The road to Wrestlemania began on 23rd February 2003 at Montreal Quebec. Last year the N.W.O had made a surprise return at No Way Out 2002. This year promised the return of ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, and the much-hyped rematch between Hulk Hogan and the Rock.

This event is important for WWE as it generally sets up the rivalries that will continue into Wrestlemania. There were several re-matches booked for No Way Out, including Triple H and Scott Steiner Many of the storylines sparked long term

1. The opening match-up saw Chris Jericho face a neon-paint covered Jeff Hardy. This match provided an interesting mix of technical and high-flying styles. The crowd were firmly behind Jericho, their hometown hero. Chris walked away with a nasty cut on his eye after the match. A reasonable opener for the Pay-Per-View.

2. Kane and RVD teamed up against William Regal and Lance Storm for the Tag-Team titles. This was quite a slow-paced match, with a surprise ending.

3. Billy Kidman defended his Cruiserweight Championship against Matt hardy. With the help of Shannon Moore, Matt had allegedly lost a lot of weight in order to compete for the title. Entertaining enough, with plenty of false finishes.

4. The Undertaker vs. Big Show was a surprisingly good effort. The Undertaker added several new moves to his repertoire, adding much needed variety to their 6-month feud. Look out for the ‘Dead Man’s impressive leap over the top rope, to the floor below.

5. Chris Benoit and Brock Lesnar faced Team Angle and Kurt Angle in a handicapped match. Edge was taken out of action early on, giving Team Angle the 3 on 2 advantage. Predictably good wrestling from all involved. This was easily the best match of the night.

6. Triple H defended his Heavyweight Title against Scott Steiner. As always, the champion was plagued by injury, (this time his thigh!) and his performance was somewhat limited. Even so, the crowd still sided with Triple H, and chanted ‘Steiner sucks’ throughout the match. Another lacklustre performance from both wrestlers, which failed to better their poor match at the Royal Rumble.

7. Next up, Eric Bishoff met ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in his return match. This one-sided exhibition served to hype the crowd up before the main event.

8. The main event saw The Rock take on Hulk Hogan, in a re-match from Wrestlemania X8. Although it didn’t have the electricity of their first meeting, this was a fairly entertaining match. This time round The Rock was a heel, and Hulk Hogan had re-gained his Hulkamaniacs.
